King drug maker Pfizer has announced a 90% efficacy rate on its Covid-19 vaccine. The groundbreaking news came as the company released initial phase 3 clinical trial results.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla claimed the company analyzed 94 confirmed cases of Covid-19 within their test cases. 43,000 volunteers initially got two doses of the vaccine or a placebo. The drug maker stated that less than 10% of the people who received the vaccine got infected. However, 90% of infections appeared within the placebo control group.
In light of the new information, the CDC has put health officials and states on notice to receive Pfizer’s vaccine by November 15. Some state officials have grumbled, saying that the short notice was insufficient for them to prepare for effective distribution.
