Aamito Lagum’s mom was hoping her daughter might go to college and later become an attorney; she wasn’t wild about the modeling business at first. She wasn’t sure it was a solid career for Aamito to pursue.
Aamito assured her mother that she just wanted one last chance to see if she could make it, and when the television reality show Africa’s Next Top Model came rolling around, the strikingly beautiful, 6-foot, 20-year-old took a 16-hour bus ride from Uganda to Nairobi. (Read more here).
“The filming was in Cape Town. I had never been there before. I made it to the top three girls, and the top three girls got to come to New York. DNA chose me and I signed a contract.”
The Ugandan model has been “slaying” on the runway and points beyond ever since. Just recently, Aamito walked for Miu Miu FW 18 in Paris. Check out the photo at her personal Instagram page. Fans are hoping that the beauty is tapped to become the new face of Miu Miu.
Aamito Lagum’s star is rising, and she is fast becoming an international symbol of fashion and beauty. One of her latest modeling shoots was for an H&M ad campaign for the famous brand’s “Conscious Exclusive” collection for 2018. Take a look.
Last August, the Ugandan model shared the cover of Elle UK magazine’s August 2017 issue. Aamito is in the center of the photo and stunning in a sequin halter-style dress.
Aamito also wowed on Allure magazine’s April 2017 cover for their issue celebrating “The Beauty of Diversity.” She graced the cover with fellow models Dilone and Imaan Hammam.
The new supermodel-to-be was busy last month starring in a new logo heavy editorial for Vogue Japan’s February 2018 issue. The models sported looks from Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Fendi and other top brands.
Way to go, Aamito!
