Sphoon and Phork is the new iPhone toolset that allows you to tweet, Instagram, and eat simultaneously. (Errr…okay). If you thought that putting your phone down to eat would cause too much separation anxiety, then this latest iPhone accessory will be just what you need.
Environmentally Friendly Accessories
Electronic designer Sergey Mast and engineer Thaechawat Treevitchukorn created these utensils to help keep the environment safe by lowering the use of disposable utensils. Plastic disposables are ending up in our oceans and causing significant harm to marine life and the Sphoon and Phork help reduce plastic waste.
The utensils fit at the bottom of the iPhone 7, 8, Xs through a specially made case. You pull the utensils out while you’re browsing, eat with them, and return them to the case. You would want to wash them frequently to keep them clean, and you can also purchase multiple sets for convenience. The tools are expected to be available for other iPhone and Android models also.
Early Reviews Mixed
The accessory is still in production and getting mixed reviews. Some see it as innovative, and others see it as risky if you drop your phone in your food while using the Sphoon or Phork. Orders have been submitted online for summer shipment, but so far, the designers have not quite reached their target. They were hoping that millennials would be so attached to their devices that they would jump at the chance to eat from them, but so far not so much.
The Sphoon and Phork team are still raising money for production and have pricing information on their Kickstarter page for interested investors. Many onlookers thought the idea might be a prank, but the designers of the Sphoon and Phork are serious about their product. The concept is interesting in an astronautical sort of way, and when you think it’s an effort to better the environment, the accessory may deserve a considerable look. M’kay.
