Meagan Good and her sister La’Myia represent two thirty-somethings who have achieved success in their careers and are giving back to a charity supporting young girls at risk. The two sisters continue with their celebrity lifestyles but have found a deeper meaning by mentoring girls who have not yet had that something which the sisters found easy to achieve at an early age: success.
Older sister, La’Myia began her career as a singer and actress. She may be best known for her voice work as “Jammer” in the PlayStation 3 game, Killzone 3. She began singing with the R&B group Isyss, and the group had success with their debut album in 2002 which sold 300,000 copies. She did advertising work for a hair care product during this period, and has appeared in numerous television and movie projects, including ER and Judging Amy.
Meagan Good started her career when she was four and has appeared in music videos, television, and movies. Meagan had a starring role in the 2013 comedy, Anchorman 2; The Legend Continues opposite Will Ferrell. She has appeared in a series of horror genre movies, including The Unborn in 2009, Saw V and One Missed Call both from 2008, and Venom, her first scream queen venture in 2005. Meagan Good will star in an upcoming NBC series, Babylon Fields beginning soon.
The two women have put their energies and resources to work by creating a charity, The Greater Good Foundation which is committed to helping young girls at risk. It was founded in 2014 by the two sisters whose mission is to enhance the lives of young women by offering a spirit of excellence and giving the necessary tools for career readiness. They are also involved in the Compton United School District through the MUSICATION arts program, which is instrumental in building self-esteem, a positive body image, and giving young girls a moral compass to guide their lives. These two dedicated women are directly engaged with the foundation they created.
Recently, the sisters launched a new initiative for the foundation with the development of a flannel shirt collection, in collaboration with the Defend Paris fashion line. Proceeds from the sale of these pieces will go directly towards programs to help girls in at-risk communities.
