Musical artist Rayce was born on November 8, 1983 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, and musician working out of Nigeria.
Rayce once told the press that music has been a major factor in his life. Additionally, he said that he expected to be “discovered” back when he was five or six years old. He actually began his professional career in the industry in 2002.
His interest in music was no doubt due in part to his viewing of various videos and television performances by such artists as Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. He also once said in an online interview that he is inspired by such things as local slang, things he hears and ideas he gets while hanging out with his friends. His signature sound is a musical melding of multiple genres including hip hop, afropop, R&B, highlife, soul, rap and afro hip hop.
Rayce’s industry resume includes numerous guest appearances, 14 singles (including his 2011 song “Roll” and various remixes), one EP–2015’s D.c.m.r.–and two full-length, studio albums. As a producer, Rayce has worked with a number of known names such as Kaha, 2Face, and Morachi (“No Dull Me”). He has helped some acts score career-defining and award-winning hits.
He tries to listen to everything he can because, as a producer, he feels he needs to stay current with the industry. He confesses to more recently having become a fan of 2Face Idibia and believes that influences all his work in the studio as well. His most recent project is his full-length studio album titled New Version of Old Soul. It hit the record racks earlier this year and features many memorable guest artists such as Dj Caise, Ice Prince, Kaydee, M.I., Morell, Tiwa Savage, Vector, Wande Coal and Wizkid.
One of Rayce’s biggest hits thus far is the single “Roll” which dropped in 2011. His music is available via numerous sources including YouTube, iTunes, Spotify, iHeartRadio and other similar services and apps. His official website is still under construction, but he is working on new videos, new guest spots and lining up new live appearances as well.
