There’s no doubt in the public’s mind that reality star Omarosa and the new President-Elect are a tight team. Has she become his right-hand woman as well?
The Reality Star America Loves to Hate
Omarosa Manigault, who originally met Mr. Trump in 2004 as a contestant on The Apprentice, has become the star that “America loves to hate.” Now it seems some of her friends hate her even more for helping the next president. In fact, according to Manigault, many of her closest friends have ostracized her since she joined his campaign. She has remained steadfast despite the criticism and she is now rumored to be headed to D.C. as part of his new Cabinet.
Does She Have Any Experience?
Hollywood and reality television aren’t Omarosa’s only useful skills. She’s spent plenty of time in Washington as well. She served in the office of Vice President Al Gore during the Clinton Administration, and more recently, as Mr. Trump’s director of African American Outreach during his successful campaign.
What Could She Bring to the Table?
Omarosa earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Central State University and is actively pursuing her graduate degree at Payne Theological Seminary. She is also an ordained minister for Weller Street Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California. Throughout her diverse reality career, she has proven to be a very shrewd business leader and project manager with her exploits on both The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice.
But as most of Washington knows, it’s impossible to bring experience to the table without a little baggage, especially experience as diverse as hers. Omarosa’s baggage has been fodder for public entertainment for a decade, including her tiff with Piers Morgan and a threatened lawsuit against La Toya Jackson.
What is He Thinking?
Many Americans are now trying to absorb the fact that a reality star has been elected as leader of the United States of America. If Omarosa becomes a member of his staff, as rumors imply, some are wondering if Washington D.C. will resemble Big Brother more than C-SPAN. Indeed, the drama and chicanery of the 2016 election tops even the most vicious reality moments seen on America’s TV screens.
The news media is buzzing with opinions about Omarosa’s qualifications and temperament for D.C. politics. The concern expressed most often is in regards to both Omarosa’s and the President-Elect’s seeming thirst for vengeance after a hotly contested campaign. This concern is not unfounded per an Independent Journal Review interview in which she states, “Mr. Trump has a long memory and we’re keeping a list.”
