Weddings are expensive but some people take the expense of a wedding to another level with all kinds of bling and extravagance. Not surprisingly, when Gucci Mane married Keyshia Ka’oir this week, the ceremony was all kinds of lavish. In fact, they spent a cool $1.7 million on the big day. Or rather, BET did. According to TMZ, BET was footing the bill since the ceremony was filmed for part of an upcoming reality mini-series featuring the couple.
Gucci Mane is the stage name of Atlanta-based rapper Radric Davis. He’s known as a pioneer of trap music and as the founder of 1017 Records. The artist spent time dealing drugs as a youth and got into quite a bit of trouble. While in prison in 2010, he got sober and healthy and released a number of projects including a few mixtapes. He also came across XXL‘s “Eye Candy of the Year” issue and spotted the woman who he would later marry. He got his manager to contact her and convince her to star in the “911 Emergency” video to be shot right after his release from prison. According to Keyshia, Gucci fell in love with her at first sight. Ka’oir is a Jamaican- born model and entrepreneur who runs her own cosmetics line, KA’OIR Cosmetics. Although the couple went through some challenging times, Ka’oir has been a vital support system for Gucci, especially while he was incarcerated.
Among the wedding guests were the “who’s who of hip-hop and Atlanta’s social scene.” Everyone in attendance was required to wear white, gowns for the women and suits for the men. Even the photographers were expected to stick to this dress code. Rapper 2 Chainz and fiancee Kesha showed off their all-white style on Instagram. Notably missing from the wedding were Gucci Mane’s mother and brother, supposedly because they weren’t invited. The theme of the wedding was diamonds and crystals, and this was evident throughout, from Keyshia’s Charbel Zoe Couture bedazzled gown to her diamond bouquet. One of the most over-the-top details of the wedding was the 10-foot tall $75,000 wedding cake that the couple cut with a sword.
All the details of the glamorous wedding can be seen on BET’s upcoming 10-part special Gucci Mane and Keyshia Ka’oir: The Mane Event.
