The official presidential inauguration is soon approaching, and as the country braces for another transition into an unknown administration, politicians are beginning to unite. Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on Friday, January 20, 2017. Those in attendance: Bill and Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush, and even the Radio City Rockettes. But not everyone is ready for January 20th. The DC Cannabis Coalition (DCMJ) intends to pass out 4,200 marijuana joints during the Inauguration speech. The group, worried about the marijuana laws under a Trump presidency, are hoping to bring awareness to the DC laws while showing support for the full legalization of cannabis.
Of course Trump himself can’t seem to sit back and enjoy the ride. Because of his itchy finger over New Year’s weekend, he’s under fire once again for tweeting, “Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!” President Obama sent out his own New Year’s tweet, telling America, ‘It’s been the privilege of my life to serve as your President. And as I prepare to take on the even more important role of citizen, know that I will be there with you every step of the way to ensure that this country forever strives to live up to the incredible promise of our founding—that all of us are created equal, and all of us deserve every chance to live out our dreams. And from the Obama family to yours—have a happy and blessed 2017.’
The drastic difference of season’s greetings between our current President and the President-elect is yet one more pain point both Americans and the world are preparing to endure as the 2017 presidential inauguration swiftly approaches. Are you ready for a Trump Presidency?
