President-elect Joe Biden appointed Ron Klain as his incoming Chief of Staff. The Biden transition team announced the appointment on Wednesday, elevating Klain to one of the most powerful positions in the upcoming Administration. As a reliable and trusted campaign insider, Klain was the obvious choice for the top White House job, and the selection was met with no surprise. Aside from his notable experience, Klain is famous for his role in the 2000 hotly disputed, Supreme Court-decided election of Gore vs Bush. In the past, he has also held the position of chief of staff to former VP Al Gore, and of course to VP Biden during the Obama years.
In 2014, President Barack Obama tapped Klain as the health Czar to lead the response to the then raging Ebola crisis. Suffice it to say, Klain’s experience during that pandemic gives him a unique and much needed expertise during this era’s Covid pandemic.
Klain thanked the President-elect, calling his new role “the honor of a lifetime.”
