With 2017 in the rearview window, it’s time to look down the road to 2018. In addition to setting personal goals and resolutions for the new year, there are a number of big things for us all to look forward to this year. Here are a few things that might get you excited about 2018.
The Royal Wedding
Prince Harry will marry American Meghan Markle in May and the world’s eyes will be on the big event. It will most likely be an intimate ceremony at Windsor Castle. It’s not yet known what dress Meghan will wear but many are eagerly anticipating seeing her gown. Also in Royal Family news, Prince William and Duchess Catherine are expecting baby number three in April.
New Releases in Film, TV, and Music
The star-studded Black Panther will hit theaters in February. Other films to look forward to include Avengers: Infinity War, A Wrinkle in Time, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The DC Comics show Black Lightning premieres in January. Albums will be dropped by Craig David, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and a number of other artists.
The Winter Olympics
This February, the winter games will be held in PyeongChang, South Korea. There will be all the usual winter events, including skiing, figure skating, curling, and bobsledding. This year, the Nigerian women’s team will make their bobsledding debut! This is a big deal since it will be the first time Nigeria has competed in any event during the Winter Olympics.
Important Historical Anniversaries
2018 marks an important year for a few historical events. It will be the 100-year anniversary of the end of World War 1. It’s also the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act.
New Ways to Travel
Starting in May, you can take a Titanic diving trip to explore the famous wreck. If you don’t want to go under the sea to see a shipwreck, you can go South…way South. The first ever commercial flights to Antarctica will begin this year. 2018 might even be the first year a private company is heading to the moon.
